Johns Hopkins water polo coach Ted Bresnahan announces his 2009 recruiting class, which features 10 players from four different states. The 10 incoming freshmen will compete for spots on the 2009 team. Hopkins finished the 2008 season as the #1 ranked team in Division III and is the defending Division III Eastern Champion. (M. Fueled by top-15 finishes in NCAA Championship competition by nine teams, Johns Hopkins University accumulated 620.50 points and finished 18th in the final 2008-09 U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup standings. The 18th-place finish is the fifth top 20 finish for JHU in the last seven years, while the 620.50 points the Blue Jays accumulated rank as the second-best total in school history. Williams grabbed first place with 1,066.50 points to claim its 13th Directors' Cup, while Middlebury, Amherst, Washington (MO) and Cortland State round out the top five. (June 19)
Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse coach Dave Pietramala has guided the Blue Jays to two national championships, four appearances in the national championship game and six trips to the final four. He also just signed a two-year contract extension that secures him through the 2015 season. (M. Lacrosse, June 19)

Last Thursday, the Board of Regents voted unanimously to freeze in-state undergraduate tuition for the fourth straight year. The Board of Regents would have raised tuition by 4 percent, but Governor Martin O'Malley provided the state system with an extra $16 million. (April 30)
